After more than a year with the Polar Grit X2 Pro Titan, I still rate its build quality, wrist-based heart rate and recovery tools highly. Its weaknesses are just as clear: GPS can drift in difficult terrain, track and treadmill running feel underdeveloped, and several everyday and multisport features lag behind the strongest rivals.
I used the watch for trail and road running, mountain hikes, cycling, pool swimming, strength training and daily activity tracking. This review is based on that long-term use, not only on the specification sheet.

How I tested it
My testing covered mountain paths, forest trails and valleys, road running, athletics-track sessions, treadmill running, pool swimming, road and gravel cycling, gym sessions and everyday activity monitoring. Weather and terrain varied, so I could assess both the watch’s strengths and the situations that expose its weaknesses.

Build quality and display
Build quality made the strongest first impression and remained a major advantage. My watch repeatedly knocked against rocks, bike parts and gym equipment, yet I did not find visible damage on the case or sapphire glass. The titanium version feels made for genuinely hard outdoor use.

The AMOLED screen has strong colours, high contrast and good general readability. Sapphire glass can create noticeable reflections in bright light, however, and the interface looks dated beside some newer competitors. The watch includes a screen-based flashlight, but not a dedicated physical LED torch.

Heart rate, sleep and recovery
Wrist-based heart rate was one of the best parts of my experience. Across most sessions, readings stayed very close to my chest strap, with only small differences. That does not make an optical sensor infallible, and I would still use a chest strap for precise interval work, but the watch performed consistently well for me.
Polar’s recovery tools remain a strong reason to consider the watch. Nightly Recharge combines sleep and autonomic nervous system measurements to show how well the body recovered overnight. Battery life in real use
Polar’s laboratory-style ratings are generous, but my mixed everyday use was much tougher on the battery. With the AMOLED display active and regular training, I usually got around four days. That included notifications, daily monitoring and recorded workouts, so it should not be compared directly with a single continuous GPS test.

GPS accuracy and outdoor navigation
In open terrain, GPS generally worked well. In deep valleys and dense forest, the track could wander and the distance became less reliable. On one route of about 13 km, I saw a difference of roughly 300 m compared with my reference measurement. That is one field comparison, not a laboratory test, but it reflects the conditions in which I trusted the data least.
Navigation is a stronger part of the package. Offline maps are clear, route guidance is easy to follow and the barometric altimeter is useful in the mountains. Loading GPX routes and managing them through Polar Flow could be more convenient, but once a route is on the watch, the on-wrist experience is good.

Running: trail, track and treadmill
Trail running suits the Grit X2 Pro Titan best. The tough case, maps, elevation data and recovery tools fit long outdoor sessions well. Wrist-based running power was also closer to my Stryd readings than the values I have seen from several rival watches.
The experience is weaker on an athletics track. There is no dedicated track-running mode, so recorded distance is more dependent on the normal GPS track. Treadmill sessions were also disappointing because distance could be inaccurate and calibration options on the watch are limited. Polar supports manual calibration of a compatible Bluetooth stride sensor, but that requires additional hardware rather than solving the issue with the watch alone.
Swimming, cycling, strength training and steps
Pool swimming
During normal swimming, the watch usually counted distance correctly. Drill sets with a kickboard and no arm movement produced substantial errors. That matters if technique work is a regular part of your pool sessions.
Cycling
For road and gravel rides, the watch recorded the sessions reliably enough for my needs. I still prefer a bike computer because the screen stays in my line of sight, but the Grit X2 Pro works as a useful multisport recorder.
Strength training
Basic workout data is available, but the strength profile feels limited compared with the richer exercise and set handling offered by some competitors. I would not choose this watch primarily for gym training.
Daily step counting
Step counting was unreliable in my use and sometimes significantly overestimated daily activity. If steps are an important health metric for you, treat the total as a trend rather than an exact count.

It is a strong match for trail runners, ultrarunners, hikers and outdoor users who want a very durable watch with good maps, strong wrist-based heart rate and detailed recovery feedback. It also makes sense for someone already comfortable with Polar Flow.
I would look elsewhere if track running, treadmill accuracy, drill-heavy pool swimming, advanced strength training, exact step counts or the broadest app ecosystem are priorities. The watch is most compelling when discounted or bought used in good condition.
Verdict after one year
The Polar Grit X2 Pro Titan has two distinct sides. Its construction is superb, its heart-rate sensor performed extremely well for me, and Polar’s sleep and recovery analysis remains genuinely useful. For mountains, trails and long outdoor sessions, those qualities still matter.
At the same time, the competition has moved faster in several areas. Track and treadmill running, strength training, swimming drills, step counting and parts of the software experience all need improvement. I would still recommend it to an outdoor-focused athlete at the right price, but not as the most complete all-round sports watch.
